The theme of the Messiah is evidently shown throughout the movie. Theo in my opinion would be Christ because he was not exactly prepared to take on the responsibility of taking care of Kee just yet but he did so anyways. This relates to Christ because he literally came down from heaven and he took on the responsibility and Eve had sinned. Theo also died at the end of the movie and he had a wound in his side. Christ also died when he was pinned to a crucifix and he died with a wound to his side, and as Theo had done in the movie, he died so that he we may live with everlasting life. In this film, Theo died so that Kee and her newborn baby could live. Another theme in the movie, is the animals and how they take care of the animals. The people that live in this dystopian society with no children to take care of, they have pets instead. They take great care of their pets and treat them as if they were they're children. As I heard yesterday while discussing this in class, Rishi stated that if you look closely enough in the background of the movie, then you will see ads in which depict animals and ads of how to take care of the animals. And also, even though humans are no longer available to have children, the animals still have baby cows and baby chickens and humans value the animals as if they were the special children. I however did not like The Fishes because they killed Julian and because they tried to steal Kees baby. I feel as if their intention stayed the same of trying to get refugees into the country but once they found out that Kee was having a baby then they decided to turn against Julian and killed her. But I guess I would have to think that if the most recent "baby" was born 18 years ago and he died almost so soon because someone stabbed him, I would be quite excited as well to meet the next person.

Children of Men
In the movie, Children of Men the main character Theo was put into a tragic event when he was first kidnapped by Julian and then felt as if it was his responsibility to save Kee because she was pregnant which would mean the first child in 18 years.

Edward Snowden
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/feb/01/edward-snowden-intelligence-leak-nsa-contractor-extract
Edward Snowden. He is as according to Wikipedia, "is an American computer professional, for Central Intelligence Agent employee, and former contractor for the US Government who copied classified information from the United States National Security Agency in 2013 without prior authorization." The Wikipedia page then goes to state at the bottom of the description of who he was and what he did, "[he] had been called a hero, a whistleblower, a dissident, a patriot, and a traitor."
Snowden in my opinion, had done something so courage and something that not a lot of people would have done. Even though the American government calls it treason, I call it courage. Snowden revealed that the National Security that was supposed to be protecting us, was actually spying on us. Our cellphone records were being taken and listened to, our computers had "trackers" and the National Security could see what we were looking at through our browsers and our privacy that we were supposed to have, we did not have that. We lied to and taken advantage of and the National Security of course said it was for our own protection and that they were doing it in case of anything were to happen such a terrorism or murderers.
This relates to 1984, because the people we not lied to, they explicitly knew that the government was spying on them, watching them, listening to their thoughts. And I honestly wonder if in that society, that it might've started off harmless like the example above, and how their government was spying on them behind their backs and they had no knowledge, and then once the people did find out they chose not to do anything about it. And then once the government knew this, they started to take control over what the people read, censoring things, and deciding what they would think and how they would live. Now I'm not saying that the government took this all at once, I feel as if they took it gradually and over time the people were helpless when it came to what they wanted to watch, or think or read.

1984 and The Truman Show similarities
In 1984, there is a government that has practically taken over the way people live. They are erasing history and watching people through TV's and the Think Police and everything that people did were watched and if they thought bad, they disappeared. Or if they read or wrote something they were not supposed to, they disappeared. The person the story revolves around is Winston, a person who works for the government and he changes history by taking books and changing the facts that are in the books and then putting the books back on the shelf. Towards the beginning of the book, Winston is doing what he is not supposed to and he writes in a journal his personal feelings and how he truly feels. He then meets Julia, and he and Julia have sex in the field but truly Julia does not really want to change anything in the government, she just wants to rebel because she's young and she thinks its cool. Winston is then caught up with O'Brien who is working practically for the government in order to find people such as Winston and "take them out" if they are found disobeying the government. Winston at the end of the novel "had won the victory over himself, he loved Big Brother". Winston had fought the urge for so long to think differently and to think that Big Brother was wrong, but because of the torture and manipulation, he wanted it to be over, so he goes along with what is told to him and he loves Big Brother.
In The Truman Show. Truman is adopted as a child and placed in the TV show where he is watched 24 hours a day. The cameras never stop video taping him, even when he is asleep and he does know nothing of this. He starts to become suspicious slightly and slowly and slowly he finds out that everyone around him is lying, including his wife and best friend. The only person he could've talked to is Sylvia but the producers and the director agreed to take her out of the TV show completely and to make him like Myrle. And eventually he get the courage and strength to leave and go sailing, and find his way out of the town and evidently out of the TV show and to go live a normal life. And as he states before he leaves: "And in case I don't see you, Good Afternoon, Good Evening and Good Night", as he bows and leaves the TV set.
The similarities of both of this book and this movie is the fact that they had someone or something to talk to. Winston had at first O'Brien and also the diary he kept. Truman had Sylvia until she was taken away and he then had the only person he thought he could trust which was he best friend. The fact that they were both watched. Winston was watched by the Thought Police and O'Brien. Truman was watched 24 hours/7 days a week without stop as well and he did not even know this. They both found the courage and strength to stand in what they believe except for Winston broke at the end of his torture and Truman did not, he would die for leaving the place he called home even if that meant drowning.

My Handicap
Diana Moon Glombers was the Handicapper General in Harrison Bergeron. She made the smartest people wear "headphones" and ear pieces and she did not make the people who were not so smart wear anything. My handicap would probably be something for my mouth. Like a restriction of how much I could speak, because I do indeed talk a lot. There are moments when I'm even home with my mom and I she will be explaining something and I will just give unnecessary backtalk to be honest. At that moment, she will become furious because she states that the backtalk that I am giving her is totally unnecessary. I do however think that maybe she would also put a handicap on my hands or my body because to be honest with you, I think that I have a very nice body and I think that maybe that would make some people uncomfortable the type of stuff I wear and just think that their bodies are not good enough. But I know for sure that there would be a handicap on my mouth because I do talk a lot when it is not needed, and sometimes when my siblings are squabbling and arguing, I will put my two sense into the conversation into what I think should happen to be honest. And she would also put a handicap on my body to maybe make my body look deformed or gross to make other people not feel as bad that their body is not as good as mine.

MY VISION OF A PERFECT WORLD
My vision of a perfect world would include the fact that there is equality for everyone. In the world we live in today, there is somewhat equality for everyone. Like there is some equality for women and most are for men and most are for whites and some are for blacks. Also in my perfect world, there would be no racism. In the world today, there is in my opinion white privileged and there are some blacks who feels as if they are better than other blacks if they have a lot of money or they feel as if the blacks who are struggling. Everyone in my world would not be racist and they would enjoy each others company. Also, there would be arguments and disagreements but they would be civil there would not be any fighting or disputes or wars. If you had a problem with each other or a nation did not like what the other nation was doing, you could civilly talk it out as people. All the guns and bombs would be sent off into space and blown up. Now I'm not really sure how that would be hurt space and if humans could ever travel to space again but that's what would happen. As for marriage and divorce, there would be no marriage and divorce. The person that you decide to marry is the person that you have to stick with until they die no matter what happens. If and when your spouse dies, you are still not allowed to marry anyone else, you are therefore a widow. If you do cheat on your spouse and have a "midlife crisis", then you will be stoned to death and your spouse will still now be allowed to remarry for they are now widows. Everyone would have to read a book monthly, no matter if they did not like reading, they would have to. It has to fit their age group and it has to correspond with something that they are interested in. The homeless would have housing, there would be no homeless on the streets begging for money or homeless vets. The vets that come home would be taken care of and the people who have the misfortune of the economy and who lost all their money would be taken care of. The government would be kept on strict watch, everything that they did would have to be told to civilians and everyone that is living in America. There would not be anymore secrets between us and the governments and whether or not the government might nor might not be spying on us. There would be free education for everyone to safely and freely go to school without charge including higher education. Everyone would be free to worship their religion but there would be no bashing or shaming of other religions unless its of harm to the public.
